Less is More

I really love building and flying control line airplanes, but I haven't been able to get anything done in the past year or so. The problem is that I need to simplify. When I was a kid, I had 2 or 3 engines and at most a few kits at any one time. It was pretty easy to keep track of things. When I needed a new kit, i.e. to replace an airplane that had been crashed beyond repair, I bought one that matched one of my engines. Now things are a little more complicated. Last week while cleaning out my garage, I counted all the airplane stuff I have: over 70 kits and 26 engines. Even worse, the kits and engines don't all match up - I have many kits that won't work with any of my engines and vice versa. Also, most of the kits I have are advanced kits and a little beyond my building ability.
How did I accumulate so much stuff? It works something like this: I'll see a kit I really like and buy it. When I open it up, I decide to wait until I get more building experience so I can build it "right." It goes on the shelf, and the process is repeated with the next kit purchase. Clearly, it's time to simplify.
